The title element (or title tag) is, arguably, the most important element in on-page search engine optimization. If you look at a search engine results page (SERP), the large link at the top of each displays that pages title element.
The meta description tag, will sometimes show up as the text underneath the title element in the SERPs. This is your chance to compel your (potential) visitors to click on your link. If your meta description isn’t up to snuff, searchers are just going to move on to the next result while they scan for a description that catches their interest.
Knowing that the title and meta elements are so important, and basically combine to make up your entire listing on the search pages, you can see how important it is to have properly optimized title and meta description tags. This is your one chance to convince a user that they should visit your site. Remember, even if you’re #1 on Google, there is still a whole page of your competitors appearing underneath your listing. Someone that is searching for a specific product or service is going to click on the link that most describes what they’re searching for.
Once I’ve completed your Keyword Research and optimized your Title and Meta elements, I’ll provide you with a document containing your new elements for you to give to your web developer.
